Each time you reach it, the clock resets and a higher tribute will be demanded.

This play mode has no time limit, the goal is to have the largest amount of gold in your gold rooms.
Once a block is placed below the red line you will get no more blocks.
From that point on heroes will start to appear, gold will start to accumulate and you gain the ability to cast spells to help you in defense and gain more gold.

The difficulty determines only how fast the blocks will be dropping. On Normal that is twice as fast as on Easy. On Hard it is twice as fast as on Normal.
